Last day at work
Well, the process of moving to London continues. Today was my last day at work. Had a great goodbye lunch with friends, then had my exit interview with HR.
I've been reading about the liability issues involved in discussing one's employer on blogs, and I'd just like to take this opportunity to say that I have always fully supported our department's upper management. If there had been any number of management decisions that were universally reviled by the employees and which lead to incredible loss of productivity, enormous ill will, and high turnover rates, then it was certainly our fault for disliking those management changes or implementing them incorrectly. And I'd like to thank my HR representative for explaining this to me so clearly and convincingly upon my leaving.
I sent out my final email as an employee:
My Last Day at Adobe
Hi all,
Just to let you know, today is my final day at Adobe. After 11 years here I'm really going to miss working with such an intelligent, creative, talented, and friendly group of people.
Well, OK, to be honest, there are three or four people at Adobe I'll be glad never to see again. But really, that's out of what, four thousand employees? Which I guess is not too bad. So I suppose what I'm trying to say is that I'll miss three thousand, nine hundred, and ninety-six of you a lot. Or 99.9 percent, which is a pretty good average when you think about it.
Anyways, thank you for all the great memories.
By the way, as some of you know, my wife and I are finishing grad school and taking a year off to live in London (which is why I won't be working at Adobe--the commute would be a bear). If any of you want to contact me, my new email address is BillBaeck@Gmail.com. And if you ever find yourself strolling through Kensington Gardens, let me know. I'll be just up the road a piece.
Bill
