The Jewel Tower

Bill writes: The Jewel Tower rests across the street from Parliament.

A small stone tower several stories tall, it was built by Edward III to house his jewels and royal wardrobe (I get half a closet, he gets a four-story stone tower. As always, it pays to be king). Nowadays you can visit it for under three pounds. So off we went. This is your basic 30-minute museum, as it sounds much more grand than it is. After housing the royal whatnots for a few centuries, it then held various official weights and measures through the first half of the twentieth century. The most interesting item of measure was the official cubic inch they had on display.

However, it was a long way to travel for an inch.
